My Talent

It's so hard to believe that 1 year ago today we lost our little Taylor Reece. I remember every detail of that day, and can still feel my stomach drop when I think about the Dr. telling us that we'd lost our baby. It's so weird to think that instead of wondering 'is that a contraction' today, I should be looking at a baby that I'll never know and wondering if he/she is getting ready to crawl.

Today is the one day I said I didn't want to deliver Kaygan. This is Taylor's day, and will always be so in my mind. It looks like I'll be getting my wish, as labor seems to still be a few days, maybe even weeks, off. We'll welcome her any time though!

So, Miss you Tay Baby! Happy YOUR Day.

37 Weeks!!! FULL Term!!!

Weeks 37-Delivery (Month 9): Watermelon

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 5:35 PM

At week 37, your pregnancy is considered full term, meaning baby is likely to thrive after birth. Baby spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) you worry about giving birth, consider what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life.

OK, seriously, couldn't they have used a picture of a long skinny watermelon instead of a short round one... baby doesn't come out all balled up like that!

We're nearly ready for Kaygan to be born, just have to get her car seat ordered... planning on doing that today or tomorrow! It's a really cute one, and should be good for future babies too, since it's pretty gender neutral. Product Image Baby Trend Columbia Infant Car Seat - Green/ Gray

The other thing on my 'To Do Before Baby' list is to sew some sheets for the carriage pad we'll be using when she first comes home. I was fortunate enough to snag a 100 year old carriage that was used by my grandpa and his 3 brothers when they were babies. It's old, but sturdy. The only problem is they don't exactly make sheets to fit it anymore,... if they ever did. So, I'll be sewing some home made ones to use.

Otherwise, we're all set for her arrival, well, physically. Mentally, I think we're both still in shock that it's so close and that we'll actually have a baby coming home with us in 3-4 weeks! So wild!

Unless there is some problem, Baptism is set for March 7, 2010 at the 10:00 am service. If she's born early, we probably will still keep the 7th unless we find out from our traveling Godparents that they'll be able to come earlier. We'll be doing something food wise afterwards, but not sure what yet... depends on how many people can make it! So, let us know if you're planning on coming so we can get a good number count... need to make sure we have enough cake!

As for everything else... well

How far along: 37 Weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: 20lbs as of 36 weeks. NO weight gain between 35 and 36 weeks! Sure that won't be the case this week though!
Maternity clothes: Yes for the shirts. I'm still wearing my regular jeans with a Bella Band to help hold them up since I can't button them anymore... I should cave and get regular maternity jeans, but I just can't find Tall's anywhere... and if I've made it this far without them...
Stretch marks: Definitely gaining! Those stupid ugly suckers have popped up on the other side fo my stomach now too!
Sleep: Waking up alot due to hip pain, and having to pee!
Best moment last week: Not gaining any weight?
Movement: Yes, looks like she's trying to bust outta there sometimes! She has her feet pressed against my right side almost at all times, and makes a little triangle stick out when she pushes! Fun to see, not so fun to feel!
Food cravings: Nope, well no new ones... still liking spicy food! Had Jalapenos on my cheeseburger last night... just helping labor get here sooner I hope!
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: None. No internal progress at the 36 week appt. Have my 37 week appt tomorrow, so hopefully we've gotten a little progress!
Belly Button in or out: So, it's kinda an outie around the outer rim, but still an innie in the middle! It's very funny looking!
What I miss: Being able to tie my shoes without running out of breath. Being able to stand up and move instead of an effort to stand and then having to stand still for a minute until things readjust and the pain goes away!
What I am looking forward to: Delivery.
Milestones: 37 weeks means we're officially FULL TERM!!!!
'Fun' new symptom: If I go too long without eating, I get awful heartburn. I've been lucky as far as heartburn goes, it hasn't been too bad this whole time, even with all of the crazy spicy food I eat! However, I can't wait too long between meals or snacks or it gets really bad!

Baby Poll

Don't forget to vote in our baby poll to the right! You don't have to register or input an e-mail or anything!

Baby Shower

So, my Sister Becky threw Kaygan a baby shower on Jan 2. It was very small and very casual... I didn't want to have one at all, but since she insisted, I told her small and casual was the way it had to be. It ended up being just family, and very casual!

Here's some (ok, alot of) Pics!

Getting munchies! Becky did great... did some healthy and some tasty... I tease her that they can't fall under both categories, but this was all good mostly healthy... so kuddos Bex!

And me eating... PG girl with food, imagine that!
I just wanted to make sure I got a few pics of everyone on here

My cousin Jason's wife Beth.
Aunt Edie
My cousin Phill's wife Mary
Me and Aunt Sue
Aunt Eunice and Aunt Dorothy
Elizabeth and Emmalynn
There was one more person here... but Aunt Max didn't want her picture taken! So, no pics of her!

So, Becky had some really fun Shower Games. The first one was a continuous 'through the shower' game. We each got an ice cube in our drinks with a little plastic baby bottle frozen inside of it. Whenever our bottle 'broke free' from the ice cube we had to shout out "My Water Broke!" It was fun... and I'm pretty sure Elizabeth's water broke first... great for a 13 year old!

The second game, Becky asked for 3 volunteers who didn't mind making a fool of themselves... imagine all of our shock (note sarcasm) when A. Eunie and her daughters Emmalynn and Elizabeth volunteered! They each got a bottle full of lemon water and the first to finish won!

Eunie ripped the nipple part off of hers and chugged it... she said it was 'broken' so she 'had' to do it that way!
Then we played musical diapers. We all passed around diapers to music. When the music stopped, whoever had the dirty (with melted chocolate) diaper was out... After the shower I gave it to Bobby and told him that we'd all gotten diapers with prizes in them and this was his! He didn't get very far into opening it before he said "no way!" and handed it back to me!
Then we did a diaper changing relay. 3 teams of 4 people. We were blindfolded and had to take off one diaper and put another one on. Somehow, the team with a 13 and 16 year old won!

Kaygan got lots of great gifts!
Including her bedroom set!
This is me opening the bedding set. There was also a toy in the middle package, and when I pressed on the top package to try to take it off, the middle package kept talking... hence me laughing in this one!
I'm so in love with these little onesies! I actually got 2 sets of them, in 2 different sizes so she will be able to wear them for a long time! People really know me and my love for purple... it was my favorite color first! ;)
I can't wait to put Kaygan in these shorts... I seriously wish they had them in mommy size too, I'd so wear them!
Beth gave us a sleeper that says 'My Daddy Loves Me'... sweet and very true!
One of my online friends had gotten this little trinket. She knew I was doing Kaygan's room in Ladybugs, so she sent it to me. I got it the morning of the shower!
So, there were many more pictures. But, not all of them very flattering, especially the bottle drinking ones! I also don't seem to have gotten a cake picture on my camera, but Bex did a great job on it. Homemade frosting with frosting ladybugs walking up a hill! Very Cute!

EDIT: Mary sent a cake picture!!! Thank You!!!

35w 3d Pg!! ONLY 32 days to go!

Well, let's hope there's only 33 days to go! I haven't posted in about 2 weeks, so be prepared for this to be a long one!

How far along: 35 Weeks 3 Days
Total weight gain/loss: 20lbs I know I shouldn't complain, but man I hate that!
Sleep: Sleeping for about 2 hours at a time... guess I'm getting ready for those every 2 hour feedings to come! Mostly waking up now because of hip and stomach pain.
Best moment last week: Man, I don't know!
Movement: strong as ever, and getting painful!
Food cravings: Nope, well no new ones... still liking spicy food!
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: Actually had to go to Labor and Delivery on Thursday at exactly 35 weeks. Was having pain in my back and front areas, so they wanted me to be monitored. I was having contractions, but nothing too strong or in any pattern.
Belly Button in or out: Innie...but a very shallow innie!
What I miss: Really starting to miss a glass of wine every now and then. I think because I'm getting to the end and know that I'll be able to have one soon is making it that much harder to refrain!
What I am looking forward to: Delivery. Knowing that as of this coming Thursday, the 14th, I'll be 36 weeks and they'll no longer 'stop' labor is exciting. I still fully expect to go over my due date, cause most 1st timers do, but I can still hope!
Milestones: Last Thursday on the 7th, we hit 35/35 as in 35 week pregnant and only 35 days to go!

Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.
