37 Weeks!!! FULL Term!!!

Weeks 37-Delivery (Month 9): Watermelon

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 5:35 PM

At week 37, your pregnancy is considered full term, meaning baby is likely to thrive after birth. Baby spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) you worry about giving birth, consider what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life.

OK, seriously, couldn't they have used a picture of a long skinny watermelon instead of a short round one... baby doesn't come out all balled up like that!

We're nearly ready for Kaygan to be born, just have to get her car seat ordered... planning on doing that today or tomorrow! It's a really cute one, and should be good for future babies too, since it's pretty gender neutral. Product Image Baby Trend Columbia Infant Car Seat - Green/ Gray

The other thing on my 'To Do Before Baby' list is to sew some sheets for the carriage pad we'll be using when she first comes home. I was fortunate enough to snag a 100 year old carriage that was used by my grandpa and his 3 brothers when they were babies. It's old, but sturdy. The only problem is they don't exactly make sheets to fit it anymore,... if they ever did. So, I'll be sewing some home made ones to use.

Otherwise, we're all set for her arrival, well, physically. Mentally, I think we're both still in shock that it's so close and that we'll actually have a baby coming home with us in 3-4 weeks! So wild!

Unless there is some problem, Baptism is set for March 7, 2010 at the 10:00 am service. If she's born early, we probably will still keep the 7th unless we find out from our traveling Godparents that they'll be able to come earlier. We'll be doing something food wise afterwards, but not sure what yet... depends on how many people can make it! So, let us know if you're planning on coming so we can get a good number count... need to make sure we have enough cake!

As for everything else... well

How far along: 37 Weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: 20lbs as of 36 weeks. NO weight gain between 35 and 36 weeks! Sure that won't be the case this week though!
Maternity clothes: Yes for the shirts. I'm still wearing my regular jeans with a Bella Band to help hold them up since I can't button them anymore... I should cave and get regular maternity jeans, but I just can't find Tall's anywhere... and if I've made it this far without them...
Stretch marks: Definitely gaining! Those stupid ugly suckers have popped up on the other side fo my stomach now too!
Sleep: Waking up alot due to hip pain, and having to pee!
Best moment last week: Not gaining any weight?
Movement: Yes, looks like she's trying to bust outta there sometimes! She has her feet pressed against my right side almost at all times, and makes a little triangle stick out when she pushes! Fun to see, not so fun to feel!
Food cravings: Nope, well no new ones... still liking spicy food! Had Jalapenos on my cheeseburger last night... just helping labor get here sooner I hope!
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: None. No internal progress at the 36 week appt. Have my 37 week appt tomorrow, so hopefully we've gotten a little progress!
Belly Button in or out: So, it's kinda an outie around the outer rim, but still an innie in the middle! It's very funny looking!
What I miss: Being able to tie my shoes without running out of breath. Being able to stand up and move instead of an effort to stand and then having to stand still for a minute until things readjust and the pain goes away!
What I am looking forward to: Delivery.
Milestones: 37 weeks means we're officially FULL TERM!!!!
'Fun' new symptom: If I go too long without eating, I get awful heartburn. I've been lucky as far as heartburn goes, it hasn't been too bad this whole time, even with all of the crazy spicy food I eat! However, I can't wait too long between meals or snacks or it gets really bad!

Hey her feet being on the right side is a really good thing. Keep her back on the left and face back and labor will be loads easier. Check out spinning babies dot com to find a lot of optimal fetla positioning to keep her right where you want her!
